After a short but felt-long flight, we finally arrived in the Philippines. The first thing we did was visit the Jollibee, which was apparently McDonald’s in the Philippines. With great expectations, I opened up the plate I received, and honestly, the visuals were um yeah, no comment. However, the taste… Maybe 5.2/10? Honestly, I think this was just due to our high expectations. Next, as soon as I entered the dormitory, my eyes fell into the gigantic water slide and pool they had. Yes, I know, I am here to provide service towards others and I am excited to help, but that slide? The diving jumping board? Who can wait for that? At this point, we had to go in. But before our fun in the pool, we first put our stuff down into our cozy little dorm and went outside. In groups, we had to fill out “reflection notes,” where the team has to reflect over the week. My group was BTB: I know that our teamwork will be bussing. We had a whole tour of our surroundings, and one of the most memorable places was the hospital, with only one doctor operating the entire place. After the quick “get to know each other” in a large group, we were released to the water. Due to the fact that everyone was not too close, the water was very cold. However, I soon splashed a bunch of water on someone and it got contaminated. Then, we were able to enjoy the slides, and jump like a diver. Today, honestly, it’s a GREAT START. I am too excited about what I am going to do for the next week since the schedule says that we are doing construction work, feeding, and more. Today was a long day, and I am about to fall asleep writing this. BYE.
