After preparing for about a month, I finally performed my stand-up comedy about the complexities and advantages of being Russian. My global issue was “Struggles of securing an identity under the influence of bold stereotypes.” I performed for about 8 minutes. During the performance, I evaluated the audience’s reaction and decided whether I should put more emphasis on amplifying the planned actions and lines. I believe that one of the most successful parts was when I pointed out the window, saying that there was a squirrel when perhaps there wasn’t. This is due to the fact that, as wished, all of the audience looked back! HAHAHAHAHA. They were all confused on why I was talking about squirrels since it is just random. However, that was my point. They are random and weird so that that information is permanently stuck in their heads.
