AWANA: Scavenger Hunt Day!

23.11.22

Today, we had a special event, which was walking around the elementary school where children would find a teacher they appreciated. In the beginning, when the kids were introduced to me, I was unsure of how to successfully handle seven children since I already assumed that they possessed their own teacher to appreciate and they would go everywhere since they had freedom. So, after a long consideration, I decided to utilize the red flag and create a rule: each person will get to hold a flag, and others have to follow behind the flag. This will allow all the children to have a chance to visit the teacher they appreciate. Moreover, creating a rule for the other children standing behind the flag will allow me to easily view if anyone is lost. This could have successfully worked because of a characteristic children owned. They all desire a leadership position that automatically leads them to increase responsibility and act principledly. Moreover, standing behind the flag may indirectly feel like a game. Constantly announcing for children to stand behind the flag triggered them to follow a certain direction/game. Furthermore, as everyone is waiting for their leadership role position, they would obey these rules more strictly, wanting others to act like this when they have their turn.
