With various age ranges (freshmen to juniors), I participated in the Seodaemun District Association Tournament. I was the team leader, setter, and hitter for these games. There, I played three games with adult amateur volleyball teams. From the beginning, all of us froze and didn’t know how to react since all the other teams were adults. I honestly don’t know what to expect. It was either we crushed it, or we were crushed. In our first game, our team won pretty easily. However, we were still afraid of this one team that we call the “Avengers.” Some of them even played professionally… When we observed them playing, all they did was crush the opponent. They also played 25:4 against another team. Now you get it, right? How are we supposed to play against them… We started the game against the Avengers, and the atmosphere WAS different: we were all scared. When the opponent and we were 4 points apart from each other (us losing), the coach requested time out and told us this: “Nothing can beat a team with the better atmosphere in the team. Since you guys are younger than all the teams here, show your youth.” From then on, I decided that, as the oldest here, I would display some behaviors that any adult here cannot: running around the court to show our youth and determination. Soon, all of the other teams started watching our game. Now, I felt as if my teammates were actually enjoying the game. Like it is shown in the video, it was when we were 23:24 (us losing by one point). After gaining advice and changing the atmosphere of the team, we were able to get the last two points and WIN THE SET!!!! Although we weren’t able to win this game, I believe that all of us were extremely proud of even winning a set.
