TVING Drama <Never Give Up> – Debater

21.10.11

Unofficial – 25:50~29:30

HOLY MOLY! One of my best friends from KIANA is coming with me to film this drama. During the entire transport process to the set, I continuously texted him, and wallah we met and the entire ground shook. Our energy level was so extreme that everyone had to be careful. As we entered the set, there were a variety of groups of ages of extras. It was the scene where parents and students attend a debate competition. It was an ENGLISH debate competition. I was SO ready. All the students met up in one place (another room right next to the main set), and our manager (from KIANA) asked who was the most confident in speaking English. I immediately jumped up and raised my hand and said, “THAT’S MEEE!!!!!” He was shaking; while shaking his fingers, he pointed at me to come towards him. He chose another three out of eight and asked us to follow him. We were taken to the main director. An extra and main director contact is rare when it comes to filming a large-scale drama, so I was nervous but excited to do whatever he told me to do. On that spot, he gave us a theme and told us to create a line in English. Okay, this is my time to shine. I was given the theme of global warming and created two lines regarding that theme. I also helped others create their lines and pronunciation. I had approximately 30 minutes to memorize the lines.

Recording part: After filming the scenes, some of us were told to come to the main director. They wanted to record our reaction, which will be utilized in the background sound later. At first, this was extremely awkward. Everyone had to be silent except for two of us or sometimes more than two. Although it was awkward and it was my first ever experience recording my voice, I was able to do it confidently due to how trustworthy and strong the bonds between the friends I made there!
